Yes, that's my 7th grade yearbook picture. I was in middle school once upon a time:), but that was so last century. Since then I have been teaching for 33 years. I have been at Hill Country for 17 years, teaching reading and English. Teaching has been my chosen profession since I graduated from La Salle University in 1985, and I am still enjoying it. When not teaching or doing teacher things, I read, kayak, camp, sew, and do volunteer work for the homeless.

Scholastic.com created celebrity bookprints a few years ago, so I created mine below. A bookprint is like your fingerprint in that it is unique to who you are and which 5 books had the greatest impact in your life.
Little Mommy was my favorite book as a little girl. I have to admit that at the time I enjoyed the pictures more than the text. Because I didn't love reading in school, you see a large gap in my bookprint. The Acorn People was the next significant book in my life. I read it in high school when I was working at a camp for students with special needs. This short little book captured my experience. It's a great little read that you can find in the nonfiction section at HCMS. The Good Earth was my first love with a novel. Again I read it in high school and traveled to a different world. None of my friends were reading it and might not have enjoyed it, but it hooked me on reading forever. The next 2 books were hard to select because once you become a reader, it is hard to pick one book over another. Lovely a Very Special Child helped me understand what my journey as a teacher might be. The Outlander series, like The Good Earth, allowed me to escape to other worlds and have adventures in history. Historical fiction is my favorite leisure reading. This is my bookprint, and like my fingerprint, it is totally unique. I'm sure yours is too.
